Solid wine with smoke, blackberries, pepper and stone on the nose and palate. Good structure and not bad for $22. (91 pts.) $21.99
2009 Charles Joguet Chinon Rosé - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
One of the better Rose wines I have sampled this year. Spice, minerals and strawberries on the nose. The palate has a bit of sweet fruits, minerals, spice and medium tannins. This would go well with steak. (90 pts.) $16.99
2009 Château de la Roulerie Rosé d'Anjou - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Rosé d'Anjou
Roses and strawberries dominate this wine. A semi dry effort with nice finish. (87 pts.)
2008 Weingut Jakob Schneider Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Nahe
This is a nice intro to German Riesling in Liter size. Floral, peach and minerals on the nose. Some sweetness but again sour profile overall. I was able to sell this to a person who said they hated sweet Riesling but I had them apply the tasting process and as they say the rest is history. (88 pts.) $13.49
2008 Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling Kamptal DAC Urgestein - Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal
Nice dry style Riesling with floral, orange, lemon and minerals. Medium finish and good price point. (88 pts.) $13.99
2009 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Dragonstone - Germany, Rheingau
Another solid effort and it features minerals, floral, apricots and a touch of sweetness on the palate. (88 pts.)$14

Medium purple. Nose raspberries, violets, smoke. On the palate sweet fruit, spice, floral and smoke. Medium finish and good acidity. Drinking well on a pop and pour. (88 pts.) $11.49
2008 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc - New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough (2/25/2010)
Light gold. Classic grass, grapefruit and mineral quality. On the palate it shows good acidity and is overall a balanced wine. (89 pts.) $16
2006 Argyle Brut - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/25/2010)
Nice nose of lemon, dough and minerals. On the palate this features lemon, dough, minerals and other tropical fruit. Medium finish and one of my go to Sparkling wines for under $20. (89 pts.) $20
2008 William Fèvre Chablis Champs Royaux - France, Burgundy, Chablis (2/25/2010)
Light gold. Nice nose with shells, apple, and lemons. On the palate it shows good balance and a nice sour apple taste. Medium finish and my favorite Chablis producer. (90 pts.) $20
2007 Louis M. Martini Chardonnay Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/2/2010)
Lemon, mineral, oak and vanilla on the nose. The palate features mild oak, vanilla, mineral, orange peel and lemons. Medium finish and good acidity. Really well made for $10. I loved the 06 Napa Cab recently. (89 pts.) $10

Really nice wine featuing coffee, spice, floral and earth. Medium finish and very tasty. Better then a lot of Carmenere wines at 2x the price. (90 pts.)
2008 Tierra Alta Colchagua Valley Syrah $12.99
Nice dark color. This wine features blackberries, spice, floral and cherry. Medium finish and very tasty. Margron Skoglund is one of the best importers I have seen for wines under $20! 90 points

- 2007 Dobbes Family Estate Pinot Noir Grande Assemblage Cuvée - USA, Oregon
A light wine with spice, floral and earth. Palate is similar to the nose but acidity is too high. Medium finish. (87 pts.) - 2007 Bodega Catena Zapata Alamos - Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco, Tupungato
Good structure and the wine aromas are cherry, blackberries, smoke, and oak. Medium finish and a bit tannic right now but cellar a few years. Enjoyed with ribs. (90 pts.) - 2007 Beringer Vineyards Chardonnay Private Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley
Medium gold. Of course oak and vanilla on the nose along with apple, lemons and spice. A big wine and on the finish it picks up the butter quality. Needs some seafood but this wine is solid again. (90 pts.) - 2006 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Rockpile Road Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Rockpile
Medium purple. Big nose with spice, smoke, plum and earth. Palate is complex and I love the smoke and oak combo. Medium and concentrated finish. Very well made wine. (91 pts.) - 2007 Newton Claret - USA, California, Napa Valley
Great QPR wine. Cherry, plum, spice and oak on the nose. The palate reveals a fruit forward style wine with cherry, plum and blackberries. Add a little spice and mild oak on the finish and we have a winner for $15. (90 pts.)

2006 Terrasses Du Soleil - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône (4/17/2010) $12.95
Dark purple. Nose of scorched earth, raspberries, minerals, and pepper. On the palate pepper, minerals, earth, raspberries and spice. Medium finish and good concentration. What a nice surprise for $13 on sale. Highly recommended. (91 pts.)
2008 Erath Pinot Noir Oregon - USA, Oregon (4/16/2010) $10.95
Light purple. Nose spices, strawberry and cranberry. On the palate spice, floral and strawberry. Short finish and good acidity. While this is a simple everyday Pinot it far exceeds the price point of $11 on sale. (87 pts.)
2007 Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Estates - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (2/15/2010) $7.95
Dark purple. Nose shows off dust, cherry, plum, spices, and oak. On the palate a nice balance of spice, cherry, plum, oak, and vanilla. Medium finish. This is the best Grand Estates Cab I have tasted. For $7.50 you can't get much better. (89 pts.)
2008 Achaval-Ferrer Malbec - Argentina, Mendoza (4/14/2010) $19.99
Really nice on the nose with floral, raspberries, cranberries, and spices. On the palate very clean and smooth wine with cherry, floral, spice, and raspberries. Medium finish and soft tannins. This is a drink me now wine and a great one at that. (91 pts.)
2008 Bodegas Ateca / Zabrin Calatayud Atteca Old Vines - Spain, Aragón, Calatayud (4/16/2010) $11.95
Nice nose with raspberries, smoke, blackberries and spice. On the palate this wine is powerful so enjoy with some food and features spices, cherry, blackberries and smoke. Medium finish and a great QPR. (89 pts.)
2005 Château Meyney - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe (4/5/2010) $34.95
Gravel, leather, raspberry and earth are featured. Good acidity and medium finish. Medium tannins. (90 pts.)
2005 Henri de Villamont Chambolle-Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (4/6/2010) $44.95
Good color. Expressive nose with scorched earth, cherry, mineral and mushrooms. The palate is also intense and balances the earth and fruit nicely. Good acidity and a medium finish. Solid effort! (91 pts.)
2007 Orogeny Pinot Noir Green Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Green Valley (4/6/2010) $22
Classic California Pinot with spices, strawberry and floral on the nose. A perfume quality is evident on the nose and more so on the palate. Medium finish and drinking well right now. At $21 a bottle a most have for an everyday Pinot. (90 pts.)
2005 Château de Maligny Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (4/6/2010) $24.95
Classic shell, lemon, and minerals dominate the nose and palate. On the palate I picked up some sour apple. Good acidity and medium finish. Enjoy with some seafood! (89 pts.)
2005 Hospices de Beaune Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Rousseau Deslandes Bouchard Père et Fils (Hospices Auction Group) - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (4/6/2010) $34.95
Bursting with cherry, truffles, strawberries and minerals. Palate is matching up with the nose and it is balanced across the board. Medium finish. A bit different then 2 previous bottles but solid wine. (90 pts.)
2007 Cave de Rasteau Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau Les Peyrieres - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau (4/6/2010) $11.95
A really nice wine. It features violets, cherry, spice and earth. Medium finish and at $12 a good QPR wine. (89 pts.)
2007 Cote de l'Anges Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (4/6/2010) $39.95
Medium color. Funk nose, spice, raspberries and floral. The palate is showing intial funk, spice, and floral notes. Medium finish. Not decanted and needs some cellar time to show its stuff. (89 pts.)

Solid Pinot Gris from Oregon for $11. Mineral, floral and lemon on the nose and palate. Good acidity. (87 pts.)
2006 Calistoga Cellars Zinfandel - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/6/2010) 17.95
An intense wine with smoke, oak, and ripe fruit across the board. Medium finish and enjoy with some ribs. (88 pts.)
2007 Frog's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford - USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford (4/6/2010) $34.95
Cherry, oak, vanilla and spice on the nose. A tannic wine at this time and needs some time to settle down. Much better then previous vintages and I can see it improving in 5 years time. (88 pts.)

Dark wine with spice, coffee, and blacberries on the nose. Good concentration and a good value wine. (87 pts.)
2005 Bodegas Castaño Monastrell Yecla Hécula - Spain, Murcia, Yecla (4/6/2010) $9.95
Spice, dark fruits and earth on the nose. A powerful wine on the palate and it really shows some structure for an inexpesive wine. Highly recommended. (88 pts.)
2006 Grgich Hills Cellar Chardonnay Estate Grown - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/6/2010) $34.95
Nice wine with minerals, lemons and floral on the nose. Good use of oak on this wine as it complements the fruit elements. Medium finish and balanced. (90 pts.)
2006 Conquista Malbec Reserva - Argentina, Mendoza, San Rafael (4/6/2010) $13.95
Light purple. Nose spice, cherry, oak and vanilla. On the palate spices, cherry, floral and toasted oak. Medium finish and plenty of flavor. This is one of my favorite Malbecs under $25. (90 pts.)
2007 Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba (4/6/2010) $16.95
Earth, spice, minerals and leather on the nose. Solid palate and classic d'Alba quality. Medium finish and for $17 not a bad deal. (88 pts.)
2008 Long Boat Sauvignon Blanc - New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough (4/6/2010) $14.95
Classic S.B. from New Zealand with the grass, grapefruit and mineral quality. Clean finish and good acidity. (88 pts.)
N.V. Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Impérial - France, Champagne (4/6/2010) $29.95
Dough, lemon and chalk on the nose. Good acidity and the palate features dough, lemons, chalk and minerals. I like the finish and it is a nice $30 N.V. (89 pts.)
2008 Newton Chardonnay (Red Label) - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/6/2010)
Not a balanced wine and featured some apple and minerals. Too much money for the quality of a $5 bottle. (82 pts.)
2005 Trentadue Winery La Storia Meritage - USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley (4/6/2010) $23
Solid nose with cherry, spice, smoke and oak. Good concentration on this wine and plenty of tannins to age another decade. Medium finish and needs decanting. (89 pts.)
2007 Chappellet Vineyard Mountain Cuvée - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/6/2010) $19.95
Another winner from Chappellet. Nice fruit forward nose with cherry, plum and spices. On the palate is shows plenty of flavor without anything over the top. Some sweet tannins emerge on the finish. (89 pts.)

2005 Meek Family Estate Inherit - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley (3/16/2010)
This Bordeaux Blend features Merlot, Cabernet, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Aromas of blueberries, vanilla, oak, and cherry. The palate is smooth overall and the oak is well integrated into the wine. Medium tannins and the finish is polished. Drink now or hold for 5 years. (92 pts.) $20.00
